Abstract: Uses observations of nearly inert, man-made chlorofluorocarbon CFC-115 obtained during January 1989, to infer age of air in lower stratosphere. These observations together with estimated release rates suggest average age of ca. 3-5 years for high-latitude air at pressure altitudes near 17-21 km.
