Record #117325:
Ice flow and surface lowering of Tyndall glacier, southern Patagonia / Tsutomu Kadota, Renji Naruse, Pedro Skvarca, Masamu Aniya.
Title: | Ice flow and surface lowering of Tyndall glacier, southern Patagonia / Tsutomu Kadota, Renji Naruse, Pedro Skvarca, Masamu Aniya. |
Author(s): | Kadota, Tsutomu. Naruse, Renji. Skvarca, Pedro. Aniya, Masamu. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | Bulletin of Glacier Research. (1992.), Vol. 10 (1992) |
Abstract: | Measurements made of ice velocity along transverse line, 7 to 15 December 1990, varied from 0.07 m d⁻¹ near left margin to 0.51 m d⁻¹ at point 2.5 km from margin. Velocities at each point increased by about 0.1 m d⁻¹ over period of several days. This is interpreted to be due to accelerated basal sliding of glacier. Measurements of surface elevation of glacier showed lowering of about 20 m between 1985 and 1990. |
