Flow of Upsala and Moreno glaciers, southern Patagonia / Renji Naruse, Pedro Skvarca, Tsutomu Kadota, Ken Koizumi.
Title: | Flow of Upsala and Moreno glaciers, southern Patagonia / Renji Naruse, Pedro Skvarca, Tsutomu Kadota, Ken Koizumi. |
Author(s): | Naruse, Renji. Skvarca, Pedro. Kadota, Tsutomu. Koizumi, Ken. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | Bulletin of Glacier Research. (1992.), Vol. 10 (1992) |
Abstract: | Measurements made in November 1990. Flow at two points at terminus of Upsala glacier was 3.5 and 3.7 m d⁻¹. Flow along longitudinal line in middle reach of ablation area of Moreno glacier ranged from 1.9 to 2.1 m d⁻¹, and was about 5 m d⁻¹ at calving front. Distributions of velocities and strain rates of Moreno glacier in relation to topographic features are discussed. Based on surface patterns of medial moraines on Upsala glacier, dynamic behaviour of tributary Cono glacier is analyzed and deduced to be almost stagnant. |
