Record #117321:

Distribution of mass input on glaciers in the Langtang valley, Nepal Himalayas / Takayuki Shiraiwa, Ken'ichi Ueno, Tomomi Yamada.

Title: Distribution of mass input on glaciers in the Langtang valley, Nepal Himalayas / Takayuki Shiraiwa, Ken'ichi Ueno, Tomomi Yamada.
Author(s): Shiraiwa, Takayuki.
Ueno, Ken'ichi.
Yamada, Tomomi.
Date: 1992.
In: Bulletin of Glacier Research. (1992.), Vol. 10 (1992)
Abstract: Examines seasonal characteristics of spatial distribution of glacier mass input by means of meteorological observations and snow surveys. Amount of surface mass balance during monsoon is lower in upper part of valley than in middle, because of less precipitation and higher air temperature. Distribution of mass balance during non-monsoon periods was almost uniform in winter 1990-91, but not in winter 1989-90, because of less accumulation in upper reaches of valley. Southward decline of equilibrium line altitudes in Langtang valley can be explained by distribution of mass input.
