Title: Theoretical heights of buoyant convection above open leads in the winter Arctic pack ice cover / Mark C. Serreze, James A. Maslanik, Mark C. Rehder, Russell C. Schnell, Jonathan D. Kahl, Edgar L. Andreas.

Date: 1992.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1992.), Vol. 97(C6) (1992)
Abstract: Plumes of ice crystals and condensate have been observed rising from open leads in Arctic sea ice. Fetch-dependent boundary-layer model is used to examine how predicted height of buoyant convection varies with lead width, vertical temperature structure, winds, cloud cover, and other variables.
