Record #117273:

Floe pair interaction event rates in the marginal ice zone / Philip J. Rottier.

Title: Floe pair interaction event rates in the marginal ice zone / Philip J. Rottier.
Author(s): Rottier, Philip J.
Date: 1992.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1992.), Vol. 97(C6) (1992)
Abstract: Data from accelerometer package are used to estimate rates at which interactions occur between adjacent ice floes. Observations suggest that interactions are result of modified collision process, where brash ice partially filling gap between two floes acts as intermediary in transfer of momentum from one side to other. Presents model from which rate at which interactions occur can be predicted. Comparison of rates estimated from data with those predicted by model shows fair agreement.
