Abstract: Evidence of glacier retreat is based on comparisons of ancient and present snowlines and of paintings and photographs. Total glacierized area in 1952 was about 3 km², representing reduction of 98.5% in relation to extent of Pleistocene glaciers. At least three glaciers have disappeared since 1972. Surveying programme should be initiated urgently.
