Date: 1992.
In: Earth Observation Quarterly. (1992.), Vol. 37-38 (1992)
Abstract: Successful launch of European Space Agency's ERS-1 satellite on 17 July 1991 marks new phase in polar altimetry. Operates more effectively than predecessor and latitude coverage is 82°, so that most of Antarctic ice sheet can now be mapped.
