Abstract: Concludes that deglaciation proceeded in two distinct stages: first was marked by glacier stillstands and readvances, whereas uninterrupted retreat and local glacier stagnation occurred during second stage. Final deglaciation appears to have occurred rapidly in response to sustained temperature increases. Collective evidence also indicates spatial variations in timing of deglaciation, refecting differences in glacier morphology.
