Abstract: Glacial geologic studies in tropical mountain areas of southern hemisphere can be used to study two issues of Late Pleistocene climate change: global synchroneity of deglaciation and magnitude of temperature reduction in tropics. Results of glacial geologic mapping and analysis of equilibrium line altitudes in Andes of central Peru and northern Bolivia, obtained from field work in 1985, 1986 and 1989, were applied to these issues.
