Record #117195:

Merely the tip of the ice core / David A. Peel.

Title: Merely the tip of the ice core / David A. Peel.
Author(s): Peel, David A.
Date: 1992.
In: Nature. (1992.), Vol. 359(6393) (1992)
Abstract: Scientists collaborating in Greenland Icecore Project (GRIP) reached bedrock on 12 July 1992 at depth of 3028.6 m, where estimated age of ice is at least 200 ka. Main aim of GRIP is to reconstruct history of climate and environmental change through last glacial cycle in detail, as basis for understanding mechanisms involved in past climate changes. Outlines some preliminary results, including those of Johnsen and co-workers (ibid., idem, p. 311-313), and others that are anticipated from analysis of over 30 constituents in ice.
