Abstract: Describes physiological and behavioural adaptations of euryhaline Arctic amphipods, Apherusa glacialis, Gammarus wilkitzkii and Onisimus glacialis, that permit them to survive freezing and thawing changes in their immediate environment, based on studies of metabolic responses (measured as specific oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion) to various sea-water salinities and temperatures.
