Record #117019:

Barents Sea drift ice characteristics / Torgny Vinje, Ånund S. Kvambekk.

Title: Barents Sea drift ice characteristics / Torgny Vinje, Ånund S. Kvambekk.
Author(s): Vinje, Torgny.
Kvambekk, Ånund S.
Date: 1992.
In: Polar Research. (1992.), Vol. 10(1) (1992)
Abstract: Review of distribution, composition, and drift of sea ice in Barents Sea. Digitized sea-ice distribution data set covering period from 1966 to 1988 was used to calculate probability distribution and temporal trends. Ice-covered area between 68 and 83°N and 10 and 55°E at end of melting season was found to have been reduced by 40% during last 23 years. Maximum extension showed no significant decrease over same period, indicating that there might have been reduction or increment in ice thickness or melting effects during last 23 years.
