Abstract: Equipment tested during two winter field seasons, 1986-88. Favourable results led to development of longer boot, which was used to encase guy line supporting 9-m-high tower and tested during winter 1987-88. Performance of both boots during various icing conditions suggests that this simple method may be suitable for practical application.
