Abstract: Presents study of five guide species from Holocene warm period, all now extinct in Svalbard and found in raised beach deposits: Mytilus edulis, Modiolus modiolus, Arctica islandica, Littorina littorea and Zirphaea crispata. Discusses potential use of species as indicators of global warming.
