Abstract: | Analyses ethnographic and linguistic features of native peoples and traces their history from Russian conquest onwards. Assesses impact of Russian exploration and settlement, and considers Siberian relations with Kazakstan, Mongolia and China. Compares experience of native peoples of Siberia with those of Indians and Eskimos in Canada and USA, with particular reference to commercial exploitation of environment and industrial development. |
