Abstract: On basis of existing data on dimensions, shape, surficial geology, and glaciological structure of ice island, in combination with air photographs of northernmost Ellesmere Island taken in 1950 and 1959, source of ice island is positively identified as Alfred Ernest Ice Shelf. Probably broke off in 1955.
