| Abstract: | Presents results of statistical analysis of upward sonar data from 3400-km track (first cruise in which data have been obtained over continuous latitude range from pole to 72°N in European sector of Arctic). North of Fram Strait, between 82 and 80°N, there is remarkable consistency between mean ice drafts in 1987 and in three earlier cruises, whereas, between Greenland and North Pole, there was significant thinning in 1987 relative to 1976. Further specific conclusions are made. |
