| Abstract: | Aim was (1) to describe physical character of unconsolidated materials (till, glaciofluvial, glaciolacustrine and glaciomarine deposits, alluvium, and peat), including geological nature, engineering properties, and sensitivity to seasonal and long-term temperature changes; (2) to construct map showing distribution of surface deposits; (3) to explain genesis and provenance of these deposits and elucidate geological history of region; (4) document crustal movements, particularly sea-level changes. |
