Record #116320:
Use of TOVS observations for the study of polar and Arctic lows / C. Claud, N.A. Scott, A. Chedin.
Title: | Use of TOVS observations for the study of polar and Arctic lows / C. Claud, N.A. Scott, A. Chedin. |
Author(s): | Claud, C. Scott, N. A. Chedin, A. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | International Journal of Remote Sensing. (1992.), Vol. 13(1) (1992) |
Abstract: | Describes modifications and use of 3I (Improved Initialization Inversion) system, which relies on a pattern-recognition-type approach, to interpret satellite data from TIROS-N Operational Vertical Sounder (TOVS) passes over both polar regions. Results show 3I to be useful in identifying cyclonic conditions. |
Notes: | International Journal of Remote Sensing. Vol. 13(1) :129-139 (1992). Special issue: Remote Sensing in the Polar Regions. |
Keywords: | 53.087.23 -- Remote sensing. 551.5 -- Meteorology. 551.508.826 -- Meteorological instruments, satellites. 551.51 -- Atmosphere. Structure, mechanics and thermodynamics. 551.515 -- Atmospheric formations and disturbances. D -- Atmospheric sciences. (*2) -- Polar regions. (*3) -- Arctic regions. (*7) -- Antarctic regions. |
