Abstract: Examines modification of major mutable cardiovascular risk factors in members of Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition (ANARE) living in isolation for a year at Davis station. Study included observation of effect of varying levels of activity on blood pressure (BP) and heart rate during different periods of fitness and stress; also examined acute and chronic effects of alcohol consumption on diurnal pattern of BP and heart rate, and remedial effects of adding fish oil to diet. Includes extensive bibliography.
