Abstract: | Work of Cape York mission station gleaned on 2nd Thule Expedition, in particular descriptions of Enok Kristiansen and family, their various seasonal dwellings and way of life, and visit to Gustav Olsen and wife Ane Sophie at Kangerdlugssuak mission station, then visit to very poor widow and son Qissuk, who later learnt to read and write and became Freuchen's trading assistant. Final account is of boy "Edderfuglen", who set up little class to pass on his literacy. |
