Abstract: Author considers importance of southern immigration route for origin of Scandinavian mountain reindeer, intergradation zone between Scandinavian mountain reindeer and eastern tundra reindeer in north-west Russia and relation to model of late-glacial history of Arctic man. Article also discusses insular Scandinavian distribution of typical Saami genes and possibility of small mammal refugia during maximum Weichselian advance.
