Abstract: Article mentions some extreme cases of succesful rescusitation and names grades of hypothermia. Discussion follows of assessment, transport and treatment, outcome and complications. Research on problems has four heads: hypothermia and metabolism, cardiac arrhythmias/electrophysiology, rewarming/ resumption of adequate cardiopulmonary function and ischemia-reperfusion injury and extracorporeal circulation per se. Article ends with set of seven guidelines for best results in present state of knowledge "no one is dead until warm and dead".
