| Abstract: | Massive bedded ice appeared on edge of thermokarst lake on Schiantala rock glacier in 1980s. Examination of old documents enables interpretation of form of accumulation at Schiantala, in which, as in neighbouring valley of Mongioie, bottom of valley was occupied by rock glacier during Little Ice Age, not by glacier. |
