Application of remote sensing to topographic maps of polar areas / Jan Dzierźek, Leszek Lindner, Leszek Marks, Jerzy Nitychoruk, Ryszard Szczȩsny.
Title: | Application of remote sensing to topographic maps of polar areas / Jan Dzierźek, Leszek Lindner, Leszek Marks, Jerzy Nitychoruk, Ryszard Szczȩsny. |
Author(s): | Dzierźek, Jan. Lindner, Leszek. Marks, Leszek. Nitychoruk, Jerzy. Szczȩsny, Ryszard. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Polish Polar Research. (1991.), Vol. 12(2) (1991) |
Abstract: | Authors propose that topographic maps of polar areas be supplemented by such landforms as are easily identified during analysis of air or terrestrial photographs. Such landforms include rock outliers (monadnocks), glacial boundaries, beaches and thick mantles of tundra vegetation. All these landforms create, with river and lake patterns, system of elements that enable location of users and make possible preparation of other maps. |
