Abstract: Discusses problem of predicting ice loads on fixed structures. Finite element models of so-called ice indentation tests are presented. Two indenter shapes are investigated: flat and circular. Indentation forces and pressure are shown and compared to analytical solutions using upper and lower bound yield theorems.
