Abstract: Analysis of icing loads collected during 1987-88 winter on two cables of different diameter (35 and 12.5 mm) but same span (96.6 m). Constant icing-rate model and constant relative icing-rate model were used to approximate ice mass on cables. Smaller cable accretes 50% more than larger. Maximum icing rate of 0.129 kg m⁻¹ h⁻¹ and maximum icing load (recorded during same event) of 8 kg m⁻¹ were both measured on smaller cable.
