Remote sensing of icebergs in the Barents Sea during SIZEX 89 / Stein Sandven, Kjell Kloster, Ola M. Johannessen.

Title: Remote sensing of icebergs in the Barents Sea during SIZEX 89 / Stein Sandven, Kjell Kloster, Ola M. Johannessen.
Author(s): Sandven, Stein.
Kloster, Kjell.
Johannessen, Ola M.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Golden, CO: International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE)
In: Proceedings of the First (1991) International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference. Vol. 2. Computer technology, ROV and control, risers, mooring and cables, pipelines, international polar research, ice, structures and scour ... held at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, The United Kingdom, 11-16 August 1991. (1991.),
Abstract: During Seasonal Ice Zone Experiment in February 1989, several grounded icebergs were observed directly from ship and helicopter and by airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Demonstrates efficacy of SAR technique for detecting icebergs, regardless of weather and light conditions. From 1991, SAR images will be available from ERS-1 satellite.
