Energy exchange over Antarctic sea ice in late winter / G. König-Langlo, B. Ivanov, A. Zachek.

Title: Energy exchange over Antarctic sea ice in late winter / G. König-Langlo, B. Ivanov, A. Zachek.
Author(s): König-Langlo, G.
Ivanov, B.
Zachek, A.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska, Geophysical Institute/Centre for Global Change and Arctic System Research
In: International Conference on the Role of the Polar Regions in Global Change : proceedings of a conference held June 11-15, 1990 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. (1991.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Measurements made in September and October 1989. Average radiation balance of sea-ice surface was zero, i.e. short-wave radiation gains were fully compensated by long-wave radiation losses. Due to turbulent fluxes of sensible and latent heat, atmosphere received 25 W m⁻² energy from ice--ocean system. Since no significant ice melting or freezing was observed, latter must originate mainly from warm deep water which is entrained into oceanic mixed layer.
