Detection of temperature and sea ice extent changes in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean / T.H. Jacka, William F. Budd.

Title: Detection of temperature and sea ice extent changes in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean / T.H. Jacka, William F. Budd.
Author(s): Jacka, T. H.
Budd, William F.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska, Geophysical Institute/Centre for Global Change and Arctic System Research
In: International Conference on the Role of the Polar Regions in Global Change : proceedings of a conference held June 11-15, 1990 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. (1991.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Existing data for observed changes in air temperature (extending back to 1956 for Antarctic and 1945 for Southern Ocean) are analyzed, together with data of sea-ice cover (from 1973), to examine extent to which anticipated warming trends and sea-ice decrease are being realized. In spite of high temporal and spatial variability, data support small significant trends of temperature increase and sea ice decrease.
