Record #114336:

Numerical case studies of ground freezing for the construction of drain pump chanbers / T. Kunieda, and 6 others.

Title: Numerical case studies of ground freezing for the construction of drain pump chanbers / T. Kunieda, and 6 others.
Author(s): Kunieda, T.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema
In: Ground Freezing 91. Proceedings of the Sixth International Symposium on Ground Freezing, Beijing, 10-12 September 1991. Vol. 1. (1991.),
Abstract: Method of artificial ground freezing was applied in excavation works for construction of drain pump chambers between parallel shield tunnels (part of subway construction) in Kyoto, Japan. To assess influence of ground freezing and of excavation on shield tunnels, field measurements were carried out. Influence of frost heave of clay layer around tunnels was evaluated. Analytical case study was conducted with new numerical model to explain use of ground freezing for excavation work; this model reproduced field measurements quantitatively.
