Record #113721:

Evidence for Late Eocene to Early Oligocene Antarctic glaciation and observations on Late Neogene glacial history of Antarctica: results from Leg 119 / John Barron, Birger Larsen, Jack G. Baldauf.

Title: Evidence for Late Eocene to Early Oligocene Antarctic glaciation and observations on Late Neogene glacial history of Antarctica: results from Leg 119 / John Barron, Birger Larsen, Jack G. Baldauf.

In: Ocean Drilling Program. Proceedings. Scientific Results. (1991.), Vol. 119 (1991)
Abstract: Results of analysis of glacial sediments obtained during ODP Leg 119 (14 December 1987 to 20 February 1988) suggest presence of significant late Middle and Late Eocene glaciation in east Antarctica and presence of continental-size ice sheet in east Antarctica during earliest Oligocene. During Neogene, there were fluctuations in extent of ice sheet, and glaciers advanced and retreated across Prydz shelf during later parts of Late Miocene and Pliocene.
