Record #113701:

The effects of freezing and thawing on landfill covers and liners / Thomas F. Zimmie, Christine LaPlante, Diane L. Bronson.

Title: The effects of freezing and thawing on landfill covers and liners / Thomas F. Zimmie, Christine LaPlante, Diane L. Bronson.
Author(s): Zimmie, Thomas F.
LaPlante, Christine.
Bronson, Diane L.
Date: [1991]
Publisher: Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska Fairbanks
In: Proceedings of the Third International Symposium on Cold Regions Heat Transfer 1991. ([1991]),
Abstract: Tests were carried out on unfrozen and frozen compacted clay soils to determine changes in permeability with number of freeze/thaw cycles; they show about one order of magnitude increase. One-dimensional and three-dimensional freeze/thaw tests were compared. For practical testing purposes, latter may suffice to assess freeze/thaw effects on landfill cover and liner soils used for solid waste disposal.
