Record #113639:

Multidimensional observations of snow temperature on windy days / Mary R. Albert, W.R. McGilvary.

Title: Multidimensional observations of snow temperature on windy days / Mary R. Albert, W.R. McGilvary.
Author(s): Albert, Mary R.
McGilvary, W. R.
Date: 1991.
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1991.), Vol. 48th Annual Meeting (1991)
Abstract: Three-dimensional field measurements of snow temperature in shallow seasonal snowpack were made during winter 1990-91. Data show evidence of thermal effects of windpumping to depths of 12 cm in seasonal snow cover of total depth of 23 cm. Air movement through snow tends to decrease local temperature gradient in upper portion of snowpack over gradient that exists in windless conditions.
