Record #113444:

Some characteristics of the external glacier mass balance of South America / T.G. Kadomtseva.

Title: Some characteristics of the external glacier mass balance of South America / T.G. Kadomtseva.
Author(s): Kadomtseva, T. G.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Wallingford: IAHS Press
In: Glaciers--Ocean--Atmosphere Interactions. Proceedings of the International Symposium held at St. Petersburg, 24-29 September 1990. (1991.),
Abstract: In tropical and equatorial latitudes north of 30° S, diurnal range of temperature is much higher than seasonal range, and precipitation is convective in origin. South of 30° S, precipitation is mainly of cyclonic origin. North of 30° S, equilibrium line of glaciers rises from 4500 to 6300 m and values of ablation and accumulation vary from 1500 to 14,000 mm. South of 30° S, equilibrium line varies from 4300 to 1500 m and values of ablation and accumulation range from 500 to 6000 mm.
