Record #113220:

The Cordilleran ice sheet in northern British Columbia / June M. Ryder, Denny Maynard.

Title: The Cordilleran ice sheet in northern British Columbia / June M. Ryder, Denny Maynard.
Author(s): Ryder, June M.
Maynard, Denny.
Date: 1991.
In: Géographie Physique et Quaternaire. (1991.), Vol. 45(3) (1991)
Abstract: Reviews current knowledge and presents some unpublished observations of authors. Radiocarbon dates suggest that chronology of Late Wisconsinan ice sheet in this part was similar to that of southern province; some dissimilarities are listed. During long early phase of Fraser glaciation, glacial Lake Stikine was impounded by ice barrier in Coast Mountains. No evidence for recessional lake has been noted, and it is proposed that late glacial meltwater escaped via subglacial conduit beneath fast-slowing and rapidly receding outlet glacier.
