Record #113139:
Evidence for enhanced mechanical weathering associated with seasonally late-lying and perennial snow patches, Jotunheimen, Norway / Mark S. Berrisford.
Title: | Evidence for enhanced mechanical weathering associated with seasonally late-lying and perennial snow patches, Jotunheimen, Norway / Mark S. Berrisford. |
Author(s): | Berrisford, Mark S. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1991.), Vol. 2(4) (1991) |
Abstract: | Presents direct evidence of spatial variability in effects of mechanical weathering at two snow patches in Veodalen. Transects between external control and internal sites display 3- to 5-fold increase in percentage of clasts affected by mechanically induced fracture processes. Data are discussed in relation to thermal and moisture regimes at study sites. |
Notes: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. Vol. 2(4) :331-340 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. 551.342 -- Frost shattering. 551.311.23 -- Weathering. 551.311.11 -- Geological phenomena caused by low temperatures. 551.578.46 -- Snow cover and snow patches. .000(410) -- British author.
