Record #113063:

Prevention of wire icing by Joule heating / Pascal Personne, Jean-François Gayet.

Title: Prevention of wire icing by Joule heating / Pascal Personne, Jean-François Gayet.
Author(s): Personne, Pascal.
Gayet, Jean-François.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Ottawa: Environment Canada
In: Proceedings of the Third International Workshop on the Atmospheric Icing of Structures, 6-8 May 1986, Vancouver, Canada. (1991.),
Abstract: Describes experimental anti-icing study in instrumented wind tunnel operating in natural icing conditions. Two model wires of 1.57 and 3.10 cm diameter installed in sampling section have core consisting of steel cylinder inside which heating resisters are introduced to simulate heating of wires by Joule effect. New formulation of heat balance of heated wire is verified from results, and then used to estimate current intensities needed to prevent icing of wires in any meteorological situation.
Notes:

In: Proceedings of the Third International Workshop on the Atmospheric Icing of Structures, 6-8 May 1986, Vancouver, Canada / Leslie E. Welsh, D.J. Armstrong, eds.
