| Abstract: | Beacon Supergroup comprises Taylor Group, a quartzose sandstone Devonian sequence, and Victoria Group, a heterogeneous Late Carboniferous--Early Jurassic sequence, and includes glacial beds, sandstone, shale, conglomerate and coal. Review outlines history of Beacon investigations, current lithological and time correlations within the Beacon, and palaeogeographic history of Antarctica during Beacon times 400-180 Ma ago. Extensive references. |
