| Abstract: | Presents history of place-naming in the British Antarctic Territory (BAT), providing background of the Antarctic Place-names Committee of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and recounting history of discovery and exploitation resulting in Antarctic place-names. Explanation of principles of place-naming precedes actual entries (pp.61-620) which each provide latitude and longitude, details of discovery, mapping and naming, references to first publication and any synonyms. Extensive references include about 1700 published and unpublished sources in eight main languages. |
