Abstract: | Four glacial systems have been recognized in this region. Observations at Fisher Massif enable relative chronology to be established, probably extending back beyond Quaternary. Preliminary results indicate important contrasts between this record and glacial history of Transantarctic Mountains, in particular, during last glaciation, when major increases in ice volume did not occur in Prince Charles Mountains-Amery Ice Shelf area. Full understanding of Late Quaternary ice age cannot be achieved without elucidation of Lambert Glacier. |
