Effect of bubble concentration on the tensile creep strain and fracture of granular T₁ ice / T.A. Toope, V.M. Arunachalam, D.A. Muggeridge.
Title: | Effect of bubble concentration on the tensile creep strain and fracture of granular T₁ ice / T.A. Toope, V.M. Arunachalam, D.A. Muggeridge. |
Author(s): | Toope, T. A. Arunachalam, V. M. Muggeridge, D. A. |
Date: | 1991. |
Publisher: | St. John's, Newfoundland: Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Engineering Research Centre |
In: | POAC'91 : the 11th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, September 24-28, 1991, St. John's, Canada. (1991.), Vol.1. |
Abstract: | Presents results of series of tension creep tests with particular attention to measurement of total air volume content, size and distribution of bubbles, and grain size as means of discovering influence of these parameters on creep deformation process. Measured strains were compared with Sinha's (1989) theory of microcrack-enhanced creep, with assumption that bubbles may be thought of as cracks on grain boundaries. |
