Record #112829:

Fracture toughness of low salinity sea ice using short rod chevron notched specimens / Lars Stehn.

Title: Fracture toughness of low salinity sea ice using short rod chevron notched specimens / Lars Stehn.
Author(s): Stehn, Lars.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: St. John's, Newfoundland: Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Engineering Research Centre
In: POAC'91 : the 11th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, September 24-28, 1991, St. John's, Canada. (1991.), Vol.1.
Abstract: Discusses results of field and laboratory experiments on sea-ice samples from Gulf of Bothnia. Experimental compliance calibration was performed and expression derived where corrections for geometrical imperfections of short rod chevron notched specimen can be made. Apparent fracture toughness, as function of porosity in form of brine volume, can be found; results show decrease in fracture toughness with increasing porosity.
