Record #112815:

Sounding sea ice thickness using a portable electromagnetic induction instrument / Austin Kovacs, Rexford M. Morey.

Title: Sounding sea ice thickness using a portable electromagnetic induction instrument / Austin Kovacs, Rexford M. Morey.
Author(s): Kovacs, Austin.
Morey, Rexford M.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: St. John's, Newfoundland: Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Engineering Research Centre
In: POAC'91 : the 11th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, September 24-28, 1991, St. John's, Canada. (1991.), Vol.1.
Abstract: Field trials of instrument for remote measurements. Capable of estimating snow-plus-ice thickness to within 10% of true value for ice from 0.7 to 3.5 m thick. Sea water under Arctic Ocean ice has relative uniform conductivity; because of this, simplified method can be used for estimating sea-ice thickness using off-the-shelf electromagnetic instrument. This technique is also discussed.
