Record #112809:
Ice rubble formation along the Molikpaq / Volker W. Neth.
Title: | Ice rubble formation along the Molikpaq / Volker W. Neth. |
Author(s): | Neth, Volker W. |
Date: | 1991. |
Publisher: | St. John's, Newfoundland: Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Engineering Research Centre |
In: | POAC'91 : the 11th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, September 24-28, 1991, St. John's, Canada. (1991.), Vol.1. |
Abstract: | Bottom-founded steel platforms deployed at four drill-site locations in southern Beaufort Sea since 1984 have provided visual and quantitative data relevant to ice/structure and ice/rubble interations, although only data from first deployment (Tarsiut P-45, 1984-85) are freely available. Discusses issues such as: correlation between failure mode and magnitude of ice force; typical ice-failure mechanisms which lead to rubble formation; relationship between ice thickness and rubble sail height; and conditions and variables which affect formation of rubble. |
Notes: | In: POAC'91 : the 11th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, September 24-28, 1991, St. John's, Canada. Vol.1. / D.B. Muggeridge, D.B. Colbourne, H.M. Muggeridge, eds. |
