Record #112797:
High resolution seismic survey of Maxwell Bay, King George Island: glacial marine sedimentation and tectonics / Yeadong Kim, Sang Heon Nam.
Title: | High resolution seismic survey of Maxwell Bay, King George Island: glacial marine sedimentation and tectonics / Yeadong Kim, Sang Heon Nam. |
Author(s): | Kim, Yeadong. Nam, Sang Heon. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Korean Journal of Polar Research. (1991.), Vol. 2(1) (1991) |
Abstract: | Survey shows U-shaped trough deeper than 500 m at centre, covered by layers 30 m thick. Fault cuts layers and volcanic intrusion is also visible. These tectonic activities must be of recent geologic time. Bottom topography is step-like. Bathymetry suggests main glacier-covered central trough and several valley glaciers developed perpendicular to axis of bay. |
