| Abstract: | Abstract presented at AGU 1992 Ocean Sciences Meeting, 27-31 January, New Orleans, LA. Simulations carried out for 1966-90, using 6-h atmospheric forcing fluxes. Ice circulation is described by Hibler ice model, coupled in ocean to turbulent mixed-layer model and diagnostic geostrophic currents. Large interannual variations occur in drift patterns, particularly in winter. Ocean circulation studied by 1-layer reduced-gravity and 2-layer hydrodynamic model with topography. Important finding of these models is that to obtain realistic representation of West Spitsbergen Current, resolution of at least 30 km is needed. |
