Record #112629:
Relict convective features in the Weddell Sea / R.D. Muench.
Title: | Relict convective features in the Weddell Sea / R.D. Muench. |
Author(s): | Muench, R. D. |
Date: | 1991. |
Publisher: | Amsterdam: Elsevier |
In: | Deep convection and deep water formation in the oceans. Proceedings of the International Monterey Colloquium on Deep Convection and Deep Water Formation in the Oceans. (1991.), |
Abstract: | Utilises phenomenological approach to summarise and discuss past field observations from Weddell Sea within context of convective processes. Focuses upon observed features having mesoscale to sub-gyral scales, and develops qualitatively hypothesis that they are remnants of winter convective features advected or migrated to observed locations. Discusses some aspects of behaviour of such features and their possible impact on regional oceanography. |
