| Abstract: | Panel for measuring ice forces was installed on upstream nose of pier of new (1989) bridge. Panel consisted of simply supported beam, pinned at bottom, with load cell for reaction at top. Ice forces measured during 16 March 1990 ice run are presented. Ice failed against panel by impact, by crushing, and possibly by splitting of floes. |
